The first use of an iPad by an MP in the House of Commons has taken place, the MP for Bristol East; Kerry McCarthy made history when she made a speech in the house using an iPad instead of printed material. She earned the title Twitter Tsar after promoting the use of social networking, especially Twitter for campaign purposes.
This follows an announcement by the Commons Procedure Committee, that said MP’s will be able to use handheld electronic devices in the house, this means that MP’s are now able to #tweet, send and read emails etc.
Before this announcement, the use of such equipment was banned, although some MP’s have been known tweet and email during Prime Ministers question time in Wednesdays.
