Vodafone customers pay taxis with phones

Vodafone customers in London will be able to pay for their cab fare with the handsets. However, this service is only available in the London cabs that have been branded with the Vodafone colours.

These cabs are not difficult to find because they are covered in the union flag that has been created by using two thousand London street names so they are pretty distinctive.

But that is not it, the user will need to pre-register first, then instead of paying cash at the end of their journey the simply send “TAXI” with the cabs number and fare amount to a special number and it is paid, currently this service is free, but how long it stays free is anyone’s guess.

According to the Vodafone UK chief executive, Guy Lawrence he said, “We have already made hundreds of improvements to increase coverage, capacity and reliability to ensure Londoners can always stay in touch with friends and family,”

He finished off by saying, “Now, with our fantastic fleet of Union Jack cabs and their on-board chargers which anyone can use, all Londoners will be able to see our continuing commitment to the capital.”
