Huffington Post opens in the UK

The Huffington Post launches in the UK, with the founder Arianna Huffington being on hand to see the launch of the next stage of the development for the sometimes controversial Huffington Post! The UK version of the Huffington Post launched with a whole host of guest bloggers including; Jeremy Hunt the culture secretary, Ricky Gervais, Sarah Brown, Alastair Campbell, and Louis Susman, the US ambassador to London. Apart from the guest bloggers, the UK site is expected to be using the services of around 300 unpaid bloggers.

According to Arianna Huffington, the site’s founder and editor;

“one-stop shop for all the information they need to know – whether we’re reporting on it, curating it from the best sources around the world, or our bloggers are weighing in with their takes on it”.

she intends to “put an end to seeing every issue through the tired frame of right versus left. There is nothing right or left about obsessively covering youth unemployment”
