Once again, the Microsoft daggers are out for the Windows XP operating system and not for the first time either. However, this time it seems real enough and to be honest it probably is the end, although it looks as if good old XP will be running until 2014. For the simple reason that the extended support for XP runs out in a thousand days time, this is the end the question now it what operating system do users go for next?
According to Stephen Rose, who is the community manager for Windows, he posted a column on the Windows blog stating;
“With only 1000 days left of extended support, don’t you think it’s time to retire Windows XP? XP had an amazing run, but many third party software providers are not planning to extend support for their applications running on Windows XP.”
Windows XP has had so many death sentences hanging over it over the years; it is hard to actually think that this is really the end for Windows XP!
