When we hear that there are 750 million users of the social networking site Facebook, we naturally assume that these are all people! However, of course, this is not so because there are plenty of corporate Facebook accounts and now it seems that pets are getting in on the act! According to recent data, around one in ten pets have a Facebook page, which makes us laugh at first because you imagine the family dog or cat sneaking onto the family computer during the night!
According to Stephen Davies, who is a social media specialist;
“As social networking plays an increasingly important role in our lives, it’s only natural that our pets become part of the phenomenon too. We use sites like Facebook and Twitter as an extension of our real-world selves and when we think of our pets as part of the family we want them involved too, there is an insatiable pet demand online.”
