Robots taught to use light sabres

This is the end of the human race in the making, here we see students and the great Stanford University training a robotic arm to use a light sabre, well okay, it is not an actual light sabre but it could be, when they become available. This is the work of a research team in the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory!

Yet we have to ask why is it that whenever there is an interesting application for robots it nearly always ends up looking like “Kill All Humans!” is in there somewhere?

According to the computer science Professor Oussama Khatib, who is the class teacher, he said;

“The whole project ā€“ from design to performance ā€“ is three-and-a-half weeks, so this is remarkable. These projects illustrate how creative our students can be when they’re challenged with a problem. The most exciting part is when the students start thinking, ‘OK, what can we do with that?’ Then they start to form groups and brainstorm about what project would be dynamic, exciting and feasible,”
