It seems that the Korean electronics giant is talking about is when Apple launch the new device in Korea, rather than just an overall launch of the device. However, it does look like some of these older firms are trying to sit back on patents waiting for some firm to come along with an idea that just happens to touch on a patent. Is this not patent trolling? If it is then this is a new trend that we are likely to see more of in the future, which can only be a bad thing!
According to a Samsung senior executive, who will remain nameless;
“For as long as Apple does not drop mobile telecommunications functions, it would be impossible for it to sell its i-branded products without using our patents. We will stick to a strong stance against Apple during the lingering legal fights,”
Therefore, what do we think Apple are going to do here, shy away or simply steam in there and hope the for best! We think that the later has a good sound to it.
