RIM Says Sorry With Free Apps

As a Blackberry user, I can tell you how seriously annoying the RIM server outage last week was for users. Thankfully, it only lasted a few days and it seems that things are not too bad at the moment, apart from device freezing and not downloading my Gmail emails, but that’s a matter for @vodafoneuk later to sort out!

It seems that the maker of the Blackberry devices Research in Motion (RIM) are getting ready to offer around £63 ($100) worth of apps for this inconvenience, with all affected users being able to choose premium apps from the Blackberry App World until the end of the year.

So far the apps available to choose from are; SIMS 3, Bejewelled, N.O.V.A., Texas Hold’em Poker 2, Bubble Bash 2, Photo Editor Ultimate, DriveSafe.ly Pro, iSpeech Translator Pro, Drive Safe.ly Enterprise, Nobex Radio Premium, Shazam Encore and finally Vlingo Plus: Virtual Assistant. Apparently, there are even more to come.

According to Mike Lazaridis, who is the co-chief executive at RIM, he said;

“We are grateful to our loyal BlackBerry customers for their patience. We have apologised to our customers and we will work tirelessly to restore their confidence.

He finished off by saying;

“We are taking immediate and aggressive steps to help prevent something like this from happening again.”

We will be looking forward to receiving them in due course, thanks #Blackberry.
