Dr Who To Tackle The Big Screen Again

You have to go back to 60’s when Peter Cushing took Dr Who to the movies with “Doctor Who and the Daleks” (1965) and “Doctor Who: Daleks’ Invasion Earth 2150 A.D.” (1966), there was of course a TV movie in 1996 too, this starred Paul McGann and was simply called “Doctor Who” but this a series that belongs on the TV surely! However, with David Yates, the director of the Harry Potter films in the hot seat, maybe he will be able to cast a spell on this franchise so that Doctor Who can finally conquer Hollywood.

According to a tweet by @bbcamerica they said that;

“A Doctor Who feature film remains in development w/ BBC Worldwide Productions in LA. As of yet no script, cast or production crew in place.”

It seems that the current rumours predict that the present Doctor, Matt Smith will not be in line for the title role in the movie, so who can it be?

According to David Yates, who will be directing the new Dr Who movie, he said;

“We want a British sensibility, but having said that, Steve Kloves wrote the ‘Potter’ films and captured that sensibility perfectly, so we are looking at American writers too,”

“We’re going to spend two to three years to get it right,” the director said. “It needs quite a radical transformation to take into the bigger arena.”
