There is no doubt that social networking is a good thing, it brings people together no matter how far apart they are and yet it’s not all good as a recent study has found that one in every hundred Tweets and one in every sixty Facebook posts is malicious. In fact, forty per cent of Facebook users actually admit to feeling unsafe while using the site and the same goes for twenty eight per cent of Twitter users.
According to Daniel Peck, who is a senior research scientist at Barracuda Labs said;
“Facebook is less likely to get hit by a drive by download or to exploit your browser. Twitter is more likely. A Facebook [attack] is more likely going after your data, or pushing an affiliate scam sort of thing.”
It turns out that the site where users appear to feel the safest is LinkedIn with only fourteen per cent feeling threatened.
