It’s amazing really to think that seven hundred thousand people are getting a new phone activated on the Android operating system. Further to this Google have been quick to point out that they only count the first activation of a device.

A while back it was suggested that Google were counting the first activation, upgrades and any further activations after the device has been passed on to someone else. Therefore, what Google is saying is they are currently activating around five million new devices a week!

According to Andy Rubin who is Google’s Android chief, he said on his Google+;

“We count each device only once,”

“Activations means you go into a store, buy a device, [and] put it on the network by subscribing to a wireless service.”
