If we all had a bit of a sort out at home or in the office, we would probably find that we have a whole load of mobile phones hanging around, in fact I have several in my desk at the moment yet I cannot be bothered to send them off or take them to a phone dealer.
However, if there was an ecoATM nearby I might be tempted to take them along just to see how much cash they were worth. The machine does all of the work and pays the seller there and then. Naturally, I would go when there was nobody around, just to avoid the embarrassment of the machine offering a small amount of cash.
This is how the ecoATM would work if you happened to be near one of these machines;
Automated eCycling Station for pricing and buy-back of used consumer electronics and mobile phones for trade-in/trade-up and recycling.
The ecoATM – Easy as 1, 2, 3
Step 1) Insert portable CE device or handset
Step 2) Used device automatically valued
Step 3) Portables automatically binned inside. User receives trade-up coupon, gift card, cash, and/or charitable contribution
Currently the ecoATM is only available at locations in the US
