Traditionally the African continent has lagged behind the rest of the world when it comes to technology and the internet. However, that does not mean broadband and mobile internet services do not exist at all, in fact as whole the continent is coming along in leaps and bounds.
The problem that faces the continent is that while there are many places with wealth and visitors, the vast majority of the continent is under developed and this means as a percentage for the population, broadband penetration looks low.
This informative graphic shows how Africa figures in the internet market on a global scale and while it is low, it is by no means the least connected place in the world and shows some serious growth too.
