We are all familiar with a Google’s Street view, but it looks like Google are planning on taking this concept a bit further than we thought! In association with the Catlin Seaview Survey, Google are planning to bring us SeaVIEW and they have all equipment and staff in place.
Before the underwater mapping project is integrated with Google Earth, it will be available on the Catlin Seaview Survey’s website! It has to be asked though with this project already in the pipeline, where will the next step be?
According to the survey’s chief scientist, Ove Hoegh-Guldberg of the University of Queensland in Brisbane, he said;
“For the first time in history, we have the technology available to broadcast the findings of an expedition through Google. Millions of people will be able to experience the life, the science and the magic that exists under the surface of our oceans,”
