It seems that despite the warning and previous hack attacks, NASA is a risk and it looks like open season on the US Space Agency. The worrying event took place last year, when hackers apparently gained full functional control of the agencies computer system. This news comes from the Inspector General of NASA, Paul K Martin as he spoke at the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology’s Subcommittee on Investigations and Oversight.
According to what NASA told the BBC, there was never any danger to the ISS;
“at no point in time have operations of the International Space Station been in jeopardy due to a data breach”.
It is noted that Mr Martin said that NASA was;
“target-rich environment for cyber attacks. Individuals testing their skill to break into NASA systems, to well-organized criminal enterprises hacking for profit, to intrusions that may have been sponsored by foreign intelligence services”.
