BBC’s Plans To Take On iTunes

The BBC are planning to make the most of its new and old content by making them available to download and keep for an average cost of around £1.90 per show. This is part of the plan known as Project Barcelona, but independent production firms are little bit worried that these sales will affect the sales of DVD’s etc, although the BBC state that they will take this matter into consideration.

According to a BBC spokesperson they said;

“In addition to BBC iPlayer, the BBC already makes some of its content available on a download-to-own (DTO) basis.

“Any proposal to extend this facility would require not just the support of the industry but formal approval by the BBC executive and the BBC Trust.”
