The FBI and other US government departments will be using the software behind some of the most popular games to produce effective training programmes for staff members. Epic Games has licensed its Unreal 3 Engine, the power behind, Batman: Arkham City, Mass Effect 3 and Infinity Blade, on a long term deal believed to be several million dollars.
These are just some of the things that Unreal’s computer games engine will be used for;
The FBI Academy using the tech to develop a virtual multiplayer crime scene in which its agents can carry out training simulations
US army medics practicing their skills on an anaesthesiology training application
Weapons researchers using the engine as a “visualisation tool”
