Google Plans Changes To HTTP Referrer

Starting this weekend or there abouts the world’s favourite search engine Google will be making a few changes designed to reduce latency or the time it takes a result to appear in your browser. So in order to make the search experience smooth and fast, Google will use the referrers meta tag to simplify the referring URL! Basically using Google should become faster and better for the user.

According to a posting by John Mueller, who is the Webmaster Trends Analyst, Switzerland, he said;

Starting in April, for browsers with the appropriate support, we will be using the “referrer” meta tag to automatically simplify the referring URL that is sent by the browser when visiting a page linked from an organic search result. This results in a faster time to result and more streamlined experience for the user.
