The QR Code is one of those great ideas that for some reason just will not catch on. Sure, there are campaigns that use the QR code but not to the same extent of the original bar code, which is a shame because chances are that the QR code could soon be replaced by something else.
According to research by MIT Media Lab they have found that flashing light works good and have been showing this new technology off. They call it the NewsFlash and that is because the system uses flashing light that is invisible to the human eye but to a Smartphone’s camera lens.
Once flashed from the screen of a tablet or computer, the Smartphone will then offer the user a selection of choices, from translations to latest news stories. It is not going to totally replace the OR code, but it could be the start of something very interesting.
