Apparently, the Olympics are being held in London this summer, as if nobody knew that! All platforms of the media have been involved in the build up to the opening ceremony, but it was not always like that. The modern Olympics as we know started in 1896 and since then the media has been involved, first the press, then radio and followed by television this was all done with skill and professionalism. But these Olympics will be different because of social media, Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and blogs will all play their part, helped by Smartphone’s and tablets, control is no longer possible. Here is an info graphic from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) it shows how social media will change the games and even how the athletes themselves will be able to get involved by putting their own views out.
