The struggling camera and film firm Kodak, kept and used a nuclear reactor at the company headquarters in Rochester. It was fully operational and had three and half pounds of enriched uranium, which could have made a sizeable weapon if it fell into the wrong hands. According to Kodak, the reactor was de-commissioned back in 2007 after thirty years of solid service. The burning question is are there any other companies with a nuclear reactor in basement?
According to Edwin Lyman, a nuclear physicist with the Union of Concerned Scientists, he said;
“In this day and age, no one should be allowed to possess nuclear-weapons-usable material without providing an armed defense of that material,”
“There really should be an effort to eliminate the use of materials in commercial companies that could be used by terrorists to make nuclear weapons,”
