History is about to be this Saturday (19th May) when the privately funded SpaceX is set to launch its first cargo mission to the International Space Station (ISS). The SpaceX Dragon capsule is in place at the top of a Falcon 9 launch vehicle and will take off at 08.55 (GMT) 04.55 local time from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.
According to the SpaceX spokeswoman Kirstin Brost Grantham, she said;
“SpaceX and NASA are nearing completion of the software assurance process, and SpaceX is submitting a request to the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station for a May 19 launch target. Thus far, no issues have been uncovered during this process, but with a mission of this complexity we want to be extremely diligent.”
