Prototype iPad Has Been Sold On eBay

You don’t many Apple prototypes coming up for sale these days and so when this iPad found its way onto the auction site eBay, it seems to have sparked some interest to the tune of £6,500 ($10,200) the only for reason for this has to be that there are two dock connectors, as everything else appears to be in line with the specs of the original design. Thats a lot of money to spend just for an extra dock!

Here is what the seller had to say about the device on the eBay pitch;

iPad First Generation Prototype/Tester unit. This is one of a VERY small amount of Apple prototype devices and you rarely see these on ebay. This iPad has 16GBs of capacity, and is incredibly unique. For starters, It has 2 dock connectors. Apple prototyped these iPads to have this connector late in the process and at the last minute decided to remove them. There are patent drawings and leaked casings that show the indents for both dock connector holes, but this unit has both dock connectors, and both are full functional for charging this iPad and connecting it to your computer.

The auction has now ended and the final price paid for the device was $10,200 (£6,500)
