Microsoft’s search engine Bing has announced that it will be using Britannica Online Encyclopaedia to provide answers to the questions posted by its users. The results will be in the form of a thumbnail image, overview and facts, making it easy for the searcher to find the right answer to their questions. It is an interesting direction that Bing is taking here and it could turn out to be a great success if enough people are using the service.
According to a posting by the Bing Team on the firms blog, they said;
Starting today, we’re excited to announce a partnership with Encyclopaedia Britannica to include Britannica Online answers directly in the Bing results page. The answer provides a quick overview of the subject, a thumbnail image, and useful facts and figures making it easier than ever to get trusted content in search. We also pull in direct links to other trusted sources.
