Google Earth has been given a bit of an upgrade, for the first time it is going to be possible to see cityscapes in 3D for mobile devices, this has been available for PC’s, but there is a market for this type of mapping such as tourists and people interested in buying property. Of course, it’s not going to be spectacular, but it is for mobile devices after all!
According to Brian McClendon, who is the VP of Engineering, Google Maps, he said in a posting on the Official Google Blog;
I have been working on mapping technology most of my life. We’ve made more progress, more quickly as an industry than I ever imagined possible. And we expect innovation to speed-up even more over the next few years. While we may never create the perfect map … we’re going to get much, much closer than we are today.
