Google Prepares To Become An Internet Service Provider

In a couple of month’s time, consumers will be able to choose Google as their internet service provider (ISP)! However, this is not going to be any old broadband service, this is fibre offering connection speed nearly a hundred times faster than the average connection speed. There is catch; this only applies if you live in Kansas City and pre-register to get Google Fibre by the 9th September.

For the rest of us, it would be a good idea to use a broadband speed checker where you can compare your provider’s speed with your neighbours’ – you might find switching provider helping your speed issues.

According to a posting on the Google Fibre Blog, they say;

When we announced that we wanted to provide a community with Internet access more than 100 times faster than what most Americans enjoy today, we asked who was interested in working with us. More than 1,100 cities raised their hands, and those of you in Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri won us over with your enthusiasm for better, faster web connections.

Let us hope that like all of their services that Google fibre broadband rolls out internationally soon.
