We tend to take things for granted these days and it seems that this could be one of the reasons why! Back in 1995 I was building stuff in basic HTML and apparently so was AOL, check out their advertising from that year and be thankful for broadband! I love the bit where it says you get a whole ten hours of internet free; how cool would that have been then?
