A partnership called Internet.org headed up by Facebook with Ericsson, MediaTek, Nokia, Opera, Qualcomm and Samsung have plans to connect the whole world to the internet. Amazingly, those connected amount to around 2.7 billion people, which is just over a third of the world’s population. Internet.org wants to #ConnectTheWorld and if anyone can do it, this group established businesses should be able to come up with a plan that works! Check out the Internet.org video below to see what they are going to do about it.
According to Mark Zuckerberg founder and CEO of Facebook, he said in the Internet.org press release;
Everything Facebook has done has been about giving all people around the world the power to connect. There are huge barriers in developing countries to connecting and joining the knowledge economy. Internet.org brings together a global partnership that will work to overcome these challenges, including making internet access available to those who cannot currently afford it.
