When it comes to style and design, there is no doubt that the Apple design team, are up there at the top for coming up with a great looking computers, tablets and Smartphone’s. The problem is for users of the popular 21.5 inch & 27 inch iMac Slim Unibody desk top computer, is while it looks great, for design purposes some of the features have been hidden out of sight in order to keep the style and design even from the front view. This means that all of those important little ports, slots and sockets have been placed on the back of the machine. It looks great, but it means having to reach around or behind every time that the user needs to add or take out an accessories cable. In reality it means pulling out the display, turning it around to access the port panel and then once all that has been done putting it all back to how it was! Life is far too short for all of this messing around, but we cannot change the design layout of the popular iMac. So does that mean that we have to carry on wasting time? Or alternatively, we could take a look at something that is promising to change all of this forever and it is not going to cost the earth to do it either, which makes a change for something that is associated with the Apple brand.
The product that we are going to be looking at here is called quite simply the Jimi, it’s from the Singapore based design studio Bluelounge! These guys pride themselves on coming up with products that are both sleek and innovative, so that means that the Jimi should be the perfect match for the Apple iMac computer, so let’s take a closer look at what the Jimi is and how it works. So, first of all what is the Jimi? Basically, it is a USB extension that has been specifically designed for the 21.5 inch & 27 inch iMac Slim Unibody desk top computer. What is does is fits into one of the USB ports situated at the rear of iMac’s body, it then rotates 45 degrees and the rigid plastic body extends it to appear directly under the screen making it easy to introduce a USB powered device, flash drive or to sync your iOS powered device, such as a Smartphone, tablet or music player. It is easy to install too, simply plug the Jimi into one of the spare USB ports, ensuring that the bottom is pointing under the monitor and snap it into the air duct underneath the screen. So now the Jimi has not only provided the user with a forward facing USB connection, it is solid too and not just hanging around loosely waiting to fall out or bend under the strain of being connected and unconnected all day long, as it will be because it is going to be so popular.
This handy piece of kit of the users of Apple iMac computers will cost just 15 Euros, not bad for something that will save a lot of time and effort.
