Ford has been exploring a different kind of car sharing service and is testing it in London right now. They call it GoDrive and two thousand drivers will be using the service that offers fifty cars parked at twenty handy locations around the capital. At the moment its early days for this service and Ford are looking for testers of this service to sign up, if you are currently thinking of joining a car sharing service then this could be ideal for you.
Ford Motor Company will begin making its London-based GoDrive car-sharing service available to the public. The service offers flexible, practical and affordable access to a fleet of cars for one-way journeys with easy parking throughout the city.
As with anything, there are a lot of terms and conditions to read, but basically you will need to own an iPhone 4 (or above) running iOS 7+ and install the GoDrive app on the device. Users must be a permanent resident of the UK and need to be aged between 21 and 70. All users will to need to hold a full UK or EU driving licence and it must be free of any serious motoring offences. Users agree not to use the vehicles as part of a taxi, courier service or anything in the motor trade. Finally there are certain professions that cannot use this service due to insurance coverage reasons, these include; diplomats, sports professionals and entertainment professionals.
