SeeLight helps visually impaired navigate the big city!

Put yourself in the shoes of a blind or visually impaired person for moment and then imagine trying to get around the city and crossing those busy roads safely. It is very hard and this is where SeeLight is hoping to lend a helping hand by indentifying direction and distance of road crossings. The data is user generated through open API access on the iPhone app. This means anyone can enter the data of any crossing anywhere in the world with the help of GPS. Now the user will be able to hear traffic lights allowing them to find the crossing and get to the other safe.

It is not easy for people with reduced physical capabilities to manage everything in the modern world. Not every city on the planet is adjusted for their normal existence in the society. But this is not a reason to give up and lock yourself within four walls. After having conducted the research and having communicated with blind people we decided to try to solve one of the most important and difficult problems – orientation and navigation in the city. All Russia Association of the Blind (VOS) consulted us during the process of app development
