The BBC will be making a new spin off from the highly successful science fiction series Doctor Who, they are calling it The Class, created by Patrick Ness and produced by Steven Moffat. The Class is being called the British Buffy as it is set in the Coal Hill School, which happened to be in the first ever episode of Doctor Who back in 1963.
Coal Hill School has been part of Doctor Who since the very first shoot in 1963, but this new show is anything but history. Class is dark and sexy and right now. I’ve always wondered if there could be a British Buffy – it’s taken the brilliant Patrick Ness to figure out how to make it happen.
The series will be starring Katherine Kelly, Greg Austin, Sophie Hopkins Fady Elsayed and Vivian Oparah. It will be an eight part series airing on BBC Three later on this year.
