The minds of children are funny things, they are young after all and imagination can be a wonderful thing. However the mind of the child whose mother is ill and who is being bullied at school will be something completely different, in many cases they will often drift into their own little world. So in the movie A Monster Calls we follow Conor, his mother is ill and he is being bullied too, yet does hw escape to another world or is what’s happening in is life real?
A visually spectacular drama from acclaimed director Juan Antonio Bayona, based on the award-winning children’s fantasy novel. 12-year-old Conor attempts to deal with his mother’s illness and the bullying of his classmates by escaping into a fantastical world of monsters and fairy tales that explore courage, loss, and faith.
