Apple TV Could Become iPanel
With Apple planning its much awaited TV, there has been some confusion over the devices name. Initially it was thought that it would be called the iTV, but as ITV is an established brand in the UK, there could be some legal issues with that name. So it seems that the Apple television could end up being called the iPanel. This would suit Apple as the device is much more than just a TV and it avoids any legal issues in the process.
According to the official biography of the Apple co-founder and former CEO;
“I’d like to create an integrated television set that is completely easy to use,”
He continued by saying;
“It would be seamlessly synced with all of your devices and with iCloud. It will have the simplest user interface you could imagine. I finally cracked it.”
As far as the actual television goes, it seems that rumours are talking about a 37 inch, 42 inch and even a 50 inch set. No doubt these new devices will follow the design line of the current Apple devices being finished in white and silver much to the Apple fans delight; it must be cool having a ready made market for your products.

ITV Warns Apple Over iTV Brand Name
It has been common knowledge that Apple are planning an assault on the way that we watch TV with a new high definition TV, but unlike everything else within the Apple range, this new device will not be called the iTV as many people think.
So now, it stands to reason that Apple would go with this branding as it goes with the iPad, iPhone, iMac and iPod Touch, but ITV is the brand name for the UK independent commercial broadcaster and as such, they have written to Apple asking that they do not use iTV for their new HDTV.
In past when ITV raised this issue with Apple it has worked out fine, but now the company is under the management of Tim Cook, it seems that ITV have felt it necessary to bring the subject up once more if only for clarification.

Will Apple Go For Premier League Rights?
There are rumours that with the Premier League preparing to enter into talks for its very lucrative television contracts, that Apple may be interested in having a go for the rights!
However, this is a rumour and the current rights holder Sky already allows live matches on Apple device via SkyGo. If Apple were to take the rights, they would need to launch the Apple TV hardware very fast and the only way that they could make money from it would be through iTunes or as an app.
Therefore, while it looks unlikely that Apple will look at the Premier League football match rights, we may have overlooked the real rival in this game Google; they have YouTube and plenty of cash!

Gordon Brown Stopped Steve Jobs Knighthood!
There is a tradition where prominent foreigners are awarded honorary knighthoods, Bill Gates, Bono and Stelios Haji-Ioannou are good examples, so considering that Apple is one of the largest companies in the world and its success can be attributed directly to one person, it is a surprise that Apple CEO, Steve Jobs has not been knighted.
Well actually it seems that he was up to the be knighted, but according to a former MP the honour was withdrawn because Steve Jobs would not speak at the Labour Party Annual Conference. You can imagine how good the PM Gordon Brown would have looked if Steve Jobs did speak there, but he did not and the honour was withdrawn.
The former MP, who left Parliament during last election, said, “Apple has been the only major global company to create stunning consumer products because it has always taken design as the key component of everything it has produced”
“No other CEO has consistently shown such a commitment.”
However, on the other hand, a spokesperson for the former Prime Minister said, “Mr Brown did not block a knighthood for Steve Jobs”.
Could this be true, or is this just sour grapes, maybe we will never know, but it does make interesting reading none the less.

You hear stories of iPhones overheating, but it seems that this one overheated and just kept going until it burst into flames. so there owner “Omar” put a video together to explain exactly what happened and added a little bit of Bruce Springsteen for good measure.

Microsoft thinking about TV!
It seems that the rivalry between Apple and Microsoft is set to continue if reports on a Windows based set top box is anything to go on. Yes that is right Microsoft TV could be on its way and it could have a price tag of around $200, in comparison Apple TV is currently priced at just $99 so the Microsoft version had better be good and have plenty more to offer the consumer.
According to a report by The Seattle Times, “Microsoft’s going to make a splash in this market with a stripped-down version of Windows tailored for set-top boxes and connected TVs,” wrote author Brier Dudley. “The software is a version of its embedded device software, overlaid with the Windows Media Center interface, with media streaming and remote-control capabilities.”

Apple working on 3D display
A patent issued to Apple has revealed that the firm are looking at building a 3D display for screens; it could even have the possible applications for holographic imagery too! Now that by anyone’s standard is spectacular.
It is believed that the technology could be used to produce the next generation of televisions, computer screens and could even find its way into cinemas too! However, how that would is anyone’s guess!
The technology uses a new type of screen that has small domes the size of a pixel, these can produce an image from different angles to each eye of the viewer, and this is then interpreted by the brain as a 3D image.
According to the patent, “An exceptional aspect of the invention is that it can produce viewing experiences that are virtually indistinguishable from viewing a true hologram. Such a ‘pseudo-holographic’ image is a direct result of the ability to track and respond to observer movements,”
“By tracking movements of the eye locations of the observer, the left and right 3D sub-images are adjusted in response to the tracked eye movements to produce images that mimic a real hologram.”
“The invention can accordingly continuously project a 3D image to the observer that recreates the actual viewing experience that the observer would have when moving in space around and in the vicinity of various virtual objects displayed therein.”
“This is the same experiential viewing effect that is afforded by a hologram. It allows the observer, for example, to move around a virtual object and top observe multiple sides from different angles.”

Consumers waiting for the new Apple TV is over
It has come to light that some consumers have ordered their brand new Apple TV device but are still waiting for delivery notices, in fact even last week there have been rumours of demands for refunds even though we thought that the money would not be taken until the device was ready to be delivered.
Not it seems that Apple are getting their UK act together and are looking to begin delivering the TV device to UK based customers within two weeks, this would take the delivery date to around the first or second week in October.
Is there anyone out there with anything different to say about the Apple TV device?
