Freshly revealed during Gamescom 2026, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Tactics is pivoting the iconic series in a bold new direction: a single-player, turn-based tactical RPG featuring fan-favourite Siege Operators.

A Return to Single-Player Planning

Rainbow Six Tactics marks the franchise’s first dedicated single-player title since Rainbow Six Vegas 2 in 2008. Stepping into the shoes of “Six,” the leader of Team Rainbow, players are tasked with leading elite squads across 45+ globetrotting missions—ranging from Target Elimination and Bomb Disposal to high-pressure Hostage Rescues.

Instead of aiming down the barrel of a gun in first-person, you’ll oversee the battlefield from a crisp, top-down isometric perspective. But don’t expect the slow pace of standard strategy titles; Tactics is built from the ground up to capture the claustrophobic tension of tactical room breaches.

Iconic Siege Operators, Reimagined

At launch, Tactics brings 15 beloved Siege Operators into the turn-based arena (including staples like Sledge, Ash, and Nøkk), each belonging to specialised classes.

Every Operator comes equipped with:

• Signature Gadgets: Sledge’s breaching hammer, drone intelligence, and tactical gadgets are fully integrated into grid-based action points.
• Deep Skill Trees: Customise and upgrade your operators to fit your playstyle.
• Class Synergies: Combine abilities to set up brutal, coordinated ambushes.

Destruction Meets Turn-Based Strategy

What truly sets Rainbow Six Tactics apart from game-changers like XCOM is how it adapts Siege’s legendary environmental destruction.

Cover isn’t permanent. Walls, floors, and barricades can be blown to pieces by both your squad and the enemy. If a doorway is heavily guarded, you don’t have to push through—you can simply blast a hole through an adjacent wall to create brand-new lines of sight and flanking routes.

Ubisoft has also modernised the classic Rainbow Six Synchronised Breach mechanics:

2. Assign Actions: Coordinate up to 12 precise decisions across 4 operators—assigning flashbangs, breaching charges, and target priorities.

High Stakes: Permadeath and Ironman Mode

For hardcore strategy enthusiasts, Ubisoft is bringing serious stakes. Rainbow Six Tactics features optional Permadeath and Ironman modes. If an Operator takes severe injuries or falls in combat, they can be permanently lost for the remainder of your campaign. Because each of the 15 Operators is completely unique and non-replaceable, losing a high-level specialist will force you to drastically adapt your squad composition for future missions.
