Can you believe it? Ten years ago, we were first invited to pull up a seat at the Cantina’s Holotable and begin our journey in STAR WARS: Galaxy of Heroes (SWGoH). A decade of collecting heroes, building formidable squads, and engaging in countless turn-based battles across the vast Star Wars universe! To mark this momentous milestone, Capital Games is launching the biggest foundational overhaul the game has ever seen, setting the stage for an exciting new era.
Here’s a look at what the 10th Anniversary has in store for every Holotable Hero!
Introducing the Era System: A Foundational Overhaul
The biggest news is the introduction of the Era System, a major shift that will reshape how players engage with new content and character progression. This is more than just a new coat of paint—it’s a brand-new way to play.
What is an Era?
An Era represents a seasonal cycle of new content and characters. A standard Era will typically include:
- Three Episodes: Sequential content releases within the Era.
- Six Marquee Units: New characters introduced throughout the Episodes.
- A Journey Guide Event: An associated unit that can be unlocked early at a lower star level.
- New Game Mode: The Coliseum!
Era Isolation: The New Way to Progress
A key feature of the Era System is the Isolation of new content. For a set time, newly released Era Units will:
- Only be usable in Era Modes, like the new Coliseum.
- Use a completely separate set of Era resources for progression, isolated from the existing “Legacy” gear and materials.
This separation is designed to allow players—especially newer ones—to engage with the latest characters and content without disrupting their long-term farming goals on “Legacy” units. Once an Era ends, the characters transition to Legacy Units and can be geared up using the original materials.
Step into The Coliseum: A New Challenge Awaits
Unlocking at Player Level 10, The Coliseum is the first new game mode within the Era System. This mode pits individual players against formidable bosses from the Star Wars galaxy, with a daily rotation of challenging foes and the goal of achieving new high scores. It sounds like a fantastic new venue to test your growing squads and strategies!
Progression Made Easier: Resource Updates
The anniversary update is also bringing welcome changes to existing progression systems, making it potentially easier to advance your roster:
- Episode Track Updates: Relic 1-5 materials and Tier 1-3 Signal Data will replace some existing Gear Salvage Boxes on the free Episode Track milestones. This could significantly help with the perennial Signal Data bottleneck!
- Raid Shipment Rework: The cost of key gear pieces like Electrium Conductors and Zinbiddle Cards is being adjusted, with some moving to the more accessible Mk II Raid Tokens, and lower-tier gear moving to Mk I Raid Tokens.
- Lower Star Requirements for Relics: The number of stars required for certain Relic Amplifier Levels is being reduced:
- Relic 4: Reduced from 6 Stars to 5 Stars.
- Relic 5: Reduced from 7 Stars to 6 Stars.
- Relic 6: Now requires 7 Stars for the first time.
A Huge Step Forward for SWGoH
The 10th Anniversary of STAR WARS: Galaxy of Heroes is not just a moment to look back on a decade of epic battles, but a giant leap forward with the introduction of the Era System. The sheer scale of this update—from a new mode like the Coliseum to the foundational changes in character and resource progression—proves that Capital Games is committed to ensuring the holotables remain a dynamic and engaging place for years to come.
Whether you’re a day-one player or a newcomer just unlocking your first squad, this is truly a fantastic time to be a part of the SWGoH community!
