It’s Not A Gamble If You Win: The Card Corner Demo is Here!

The wait is over for fans of cosy productivity and deckbuilding strategy. Conradical Games and publisher Assemble Entertainment have officially released the first playable demo for Card Corner, the spiritual successor to the cult-favorite Desktop Defender.

Designed to be the ultimate “second-monitor” game, Card Corner blends the high-stakes feel of poker with the satisfying loops of an idle incremental game—all in a compact window that sits neatly in the corner of your screen.

    What is Card Corner?

Imagine Balatro met a productivity app. Card Corner is a poker-inspired deckbuilder that progresses while you work, browse, or play other games. Your deck draws hands automatically, earning you chips that you can reinvest into powerful upgrades, new cards, and game-changing synergies.

Key features you’ll find in the demo:

    • Idle Poker Deckbuilding: Watch your chips stack up as hands are drawn in the background.
    • Active or Passive Play: Jump in to optimise your hand bonuses or let your strategy unfold naturally.
    • Small Footprint: The game runs in a fully resizable, repositionable window that stays out of your way.
    • Deep Progression: Even in the demo, you can get a taste of the 100 XP levels and the “Ascendium” prestige system.

    Steam Next Fest & Beyond

The demo release kicks off a big month for the game. If you enjoy what you play today, make sure to keep an eye out for more during Steam Next Fest, running from February 23rd to March 2nd.

The developer, Swiss-based Conradical Games, has a history of creating unique “utility-adjacent” games, and Card Corner looks to be their most polished entry yet.

    Mark Your Calendars

    • Demo Available: NOW (on Steam)
    • Steam Next Fest Feature: February 23 – March 2, 2026
    • Full Launch: March 9, 2026

“Whether you’re chasing legendary cards or simply letting customers drop by your booth, the corner is always open.”

  • King of the Bar: Capote!’s Mega Update is Served Fresh!

King of the Bar: Capote!’s Mega Update is Served Fresh!

The Brazilian pub has just gotten a whole lot livelier! Luski Game Studio and CriticalLeap have dropped the “King of the Bar” update for their chaotic, bluff-filled card game, Capote! Currently in Steam Early Access, this is the first major patch and it’s bringing a massive round of new features and quality-of-life improvements that cement its spot as the ultimate virtual game night.

If you love the blend of high-stakes prediction, strategy, and pure, unadulterated chaos, then pull up a chair—it’s time to see what’s on the menu.

Customization is King: Your Bar, Your Rules

One of the biggest takeaways from the “King of the Bar” update is the massive push for customization. Inspired by the true spirit of Brazilian bar games—where “house rules” are gospel—the developers have given players unprecedented control over their match settings.

    New Match Options Include:

    • Mode without special cards: For the purists who prefer straight-up card-playing and prediction.
    • Player life count: Adjust the number of shots (missed prediction points) a player can take before they’re out.
    • Betting and play time limits: Speed up the pace or slow it down to savor the bluffing.
    • “Beto Royale” mode: A thrilling new mode where players duel until only one person remains steady enough to stand.
    • More special cards added to the deck: Turn the chaos level up to 11!
    • Spectator card view on/off: Control what observers can see, adding another layer of strategy (or paranoia!)

This new suite of options means you can tailor the game perfectly to your friend group, whether you’re looking for a serious, high-skill contest or a drunken, unpredictable mess.

A Polished New Hangout: Lobby Redesign & QoL

Stepping into the main menu now feels better than ever, thanks to a much-needed facelift and some smart quality-of-life additions.

    Refreshed Bar Features:

    • Redesigned Lobby: The new space is cleaner and better organized, making it easier to set up those freshly customized matches.
    • New “Game Mode” Menu: The developers are teasing what’s coming next! Keep an eye on this menu for hints of upcoming modes like Blackjack and Trucco.
    • Quality of Life Polish: Small but significant fixes enhance the immersion. This includes voice chat volume fixes, smoother mouth movement polish (including a first pass on lip sync), and a handy HUD indicator showing who is speaking.
    • Final Round Warning: No more surprise eliminations—a new UI element warns players when the final betting round is about to begin.

These changes show that Luski Game Studio is actively listening to its Early Access community, focusing on not just new content, but also polishing the core experience.

    The Vibe is Impeccable

For those unfamiliar, Capote! isn’t just a card game—it’s a virtual trip to a sweltering Brazilian pub, mixing the mechanics of prediction and trick-taking (inspired by games like Trucco) with a deck of chaotic special cards. The goal: successfully predict how many points you’ll amass in a round. Miss your prediction, and you take a virtual shot. Hit four shots and you’re “Capotado!”—out of the game!

The update reinforces this fun, chaotic atmosphere. As Game Designer Gabriel Guedes notes, the addition of customization is key to recreating the genuine, anything-goes vibe of a real drinking game. Victory is sweet, but watching a friend’s sure-fire win dissolve into chaos thanks to a well-timed special card? That’s sweeter.

    Where to Find the Fun

The “King of the Bar” update is available now on Steam Early Access. The timing is perfect, as the game is also participating in the Steam Digital Event LAGS (Latin America Game Showcase), where you can grab the game at a 20% discount.

The King of the Bar has arrived. It’s time to test your wits, master the bluff, and see if you can be the last one standing!
