Get ready to swap your tranquil gardening gloves for combat wellies. Independent publisher Curveball Games and developer Cloth Cat Games have officially pulled back the curtain on Planted!, a chaotic new “horticultural combat” party game heading to PC and consoles.
If you’ve ever felt that traditional farming sims were missing a bit of high-octane violence, this might be the game you’ve been waiting for.
What is Planted!?
Described as “part harvest sim, part sports game, and 100% cultivated chaos,” Planted! is a co-op party game for 1–4 players. Instead of just peacefully tending to your marigolds, you’ll be sowing, growing, and throwing your produce at goals—and your opponents—to rack up points in fast-paced arena battles.
The game is a long-term passion project for the Cardiff-based team at Cloth Cat Games, who have been developing the concept for the last five years.
Key Features at a Glance:
- Sow, Grow, and Throw: The core loop involves managing your allotment under pressure. You’ll need to strategically use fertiliser to grow “colossal crops” for more points or sabotage your rivals by stealing their hard-earned offerings.
- Arena Hazards: It’s not just other players you have to worry about. The arenas are packed with “spud turrets” and “weed bombs” designed to keep you on your toes.
- Diverse Environments: At launch, the game will feature 8 unique environments, each offering different twists and tactical challenges.
- Solo & Multiplayer: Jump into a full single-player campaign or take the fight online with friends. The game supports both local and online multiplayer.
- Cross-Play: PC and console players can go head-to-head regardless of their platform.
Platforms and Availability
Planted! is set to bloom across all major platforms. You’ll find it digitally on:
- PC (Steam)
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X|S
- Nintendo Switch
For the collectors out there, physical editions have also been confirmed for the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.
“When Cloth Cat told us about their horticultural combat party game packed to the brim with character and playful ideas, we were sold instantly,” said Ed Gregory, Senior Publishing Manager at Curveball Games.
Why We’re Excited
The “Cosy Game” genre has exploded recently, but Planted! seems to be taking that aesthetic and turning it on its head. It carries the frantic energy of games like Overcooked! but injects a competitive, sports-like edge that feels fresh. Whether you’re a tactical grower or just want to pelt your mates with an oversized turnip, this looks like a winner for game night.
Only thyme will tell who reigns supreme in the garden.
Stay tuned to TechMash for more updates on Planted! as we head toward its 2026 release window.
