For the Emperor! Deep Silver and developer KING Art Games have today unleashed the fourth and final faction deep dive for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV, casting the spotlight on humanity’s greatest defenders — the Space Marines — and revealing two distinct playable sub-factions: the Blood Ravens and the Dark Angels.
Watch the official trailer here:
One Faction, Two Legends
The Space Marines stand as the iconic backbone of the Dawn of War series — genetically enhanced super-soldiers clad in power armour, forged through centuries of unyielding warfare and absolute devotion to the Imperium. But on the war-torn planet of Kronus, they do not fight as one single force. Two legendary Chapters have answered the call, united in purpose yet divided in doctrine:
Blood Ravens — Shadows & Precision
Mysterious, adaptable, and masters of intelligence-gathering, the Blood Ravens favour stealth, scouting, and surgical strikes.
- Captain Cyrus leads from the vanguard — a specialist in infiltration, marksmanship, and well-timed air support
- Playstyle: reconnaissance, precision strikes, and behind-enemy-lines operations — identify weak points, disrupt supply lines, and strike before the foe knows you’re there
- Elite, flexible, and cunning — they turn uncertainty into a weapon
Dark Angels — Iron & Onslaught
The stern, secretive First Legion brings overwhelming firepower and unbreakable armour to the field.
- Company Master Astoran commands from the front in indomitable Terminator armour — a walking fortress that few foes can halt
- Playstyle: head-on assaults, heavy armour, and relentless attrition — Drop Pods rain down, Orbital Bombardments scour the earth, and nothing stands before their advance
- Slow to march, impossible to stop
Tactics of the Adeptus Astartes
The Space Marines faction is built around elite quality over massed numbers — every squad matters, every casualty stings, and every victory must be secured with careful positioning and devastating firepower:
- Elite 1v1 advantage — most Marine units win straight duels; use early-game pressure to control key points
- Reinforce & endure — call in fresh squads directly on the battlefield; preserve veterans and let them grow in strength
- Fortify & redeploy — secure territory with defensive structures, then use Thunderhawk Relay to shift forces instantly across the map
- Strike from orbit — unleash Orbital Bombardment to shatter enemy strongholds and Drop Pod assaults to open battles with overwhelming force
