If you’ve been finding the current wilderness a bit too “open,” Dowdun Reach is here to tighten the screws. This update introduces a dense, labyrinthine fortress that promises to be the game’s most claustrophobic and dangerous region yet.
What to Expect in Dowdun Reach
The eponymous stronghold was once a bastion of Zamorakian worship, but it has since fallen into a “frenzy of ruin and madness.” Here is what’s waiting for you inside:
The Black Knight Titan: A formidable new boss ruling over the corrupted fortress.
New Threats: The halls are patrolled by armoured Black Knights and hostile Zamorakian mages, while Lesser Blue Dragons nest within the crumbling walls.
Denser Exploration: Unlike the sprawling fields of previous zones, the Reach focuses on interior navigation, secret corridors, and verticality.
The “Grind” Just Got Real: Level 99 Caps
One of the most significant changes coming on March 31st isn’t a location, but a fundamental shift in progression. Responding to community feedback, Jagex is raising the level cap for all skills to 99.
While not all skills have their high-tier content finished yet, this change ensures that players no longer “waste” XP while grinding. Any content added in future updates will retroactively unlock for those who have already hit the milestones. And yes, the iconic Skill Capes are finally making their debut to show off your dedication.
New Gear: The Age of Mithril
It wouldn’t be a RuneScape update without a new metal to mine. Dowdun Reach is rich with Mithril veins, allowing players to craft a brand-new tier of equipment:
Weaponry: Eight new Mithril weapons, including the Greataxe and Greatsword.
Ranged & Magic: The Maple Shortbow/Longbow, Blue Dragonhide armour, and the fan-favourite Mystic Robes.
Dedicated Servers: Alongside the content, Jagex is launching official Dedicated Server support, allowing for more stable multiplayer sessions and player-managed worlds.
