DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO continues to dominate the arena fighter scene with a massive 2026 roadmap that blends free gameplay overhauls with high-octane character expansions.
Following its successful launch on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 late last year, developer Spike Chunsoft is doubling down on the “Tenkaichi” legacy with fresh content for the new year.
The 2026 DLC Roadmap
The current year is divided into three major phases, focusing on single-player depth and iconic roster additions.
1. The “Mission 100” Update (January 26, 2026)
Just released this week, this free update is a direct love letter to Budokai Tenkaichi 3 fans.
- Mission 100 Mode: A solo challenge mode featuring 100 unique combat scenarios. Each mission has specific win conditions and team restrictions, making it the perfect playground for testing character-specific strategies.
- System Refinements: The update also introduced “Ultra” difficulty for the CPU and a bulk-purchase feature for the in-game shop.
2. Survival Mode (Spring 2026)
Coming later this spring, another free expansion will introduce an Endurance-based Survival Mode. Players will face a gauntlet of opponents with limited health recovery between rounds, emphasising resource management and defensive play.
3. Major Summer DLC Expansion (Summer 2026)
The biggest news is the upcoming paid DLC expansion set for this summer. While the official title is still under wraps, the teaser trailer has confirmed a heavy focus on fan-favourite “missing” legends:
- Confirmed Characters: Super Android 17 (GT), King Piccolo (Original DB), and Super Saiyan Bardock.
- New Moves: Customizable Super Attacks for base-roster icons like Goku and Vegeta.
- New Stages: Additional battlegrounds, including a rumored Roshi’s Island revamp.
- Theme Song: For the first time in 18 years, the legendary Hironobu Kageyama has written and performed a new theme song specifically for this expansion.

Looking Further Ahead: “Age 1000”
While you’re grinding through Sparking! ZERO, keep an eye on April 2026. Bandai Namco has teased a new project titled “Dragon Ball: Age 1000” for 2027. It is reportedly one of the final projects Akira Toriyama worked on before his passing, focusing on a future era of the Dragon Ball timeline.
