Praise the eternal flame, Survivors!
The wasteland is about to get a lot more crowded—and a lot hotter. Gaijin Entertainment has officially dropped the “Playing with Fire” update for Crossout, and if you’ve ever felt that your armoured vehicle was missing a certain “incendiary” charm, this is the season you’ve been waiting for.
Dedicated to the chaotic Firestarters faction, this update isn’t just about adding a few new parts; it’s about redefining how you wreak havoc on the battlefield.
New Toys for the Firestarters
The Firestarters have never been known for their subtlety, and their new arsenal proves it. Here are the highlights of the new hardware you can now bolt onto your rides:
- The “Thrust” Melee Weapon: This legendary saw deals periodic damage upon contact. But here’s the kicker: it can also fire a heavy projectile that deals ram damage from a distance. It’s the ultimate “get over here” (and then stay there) tool.
- The “Butcher” Disc Launcher: A legendary weapon that fires discs which latch onto enemy parts, sawing through them before delivering a final explosive goodbye.
- The “Inquisitor” Rocket Launcher: For those who prefer the classics, this multi-barreled beast provides heavy-duty suppression and fire-based destruction.
- The “Hyena” Tracked Platform: New movement parts featuring retractable “claw” blades that scale in lethality based on your speed.
Fresh Brawls & Game Modes
The update also introduces a rotation of limited-time events to keep the adrenaline pumping:
- Precious Driver: A team-based hunt where one player is randomly selected as the “high-value target.” Protect your VIP and hunt the enemy to secure victory.
- Ice and Fire: A PvP clash using pre-assembled vehicles. You’ll have to choose between scorching heat or cryogenic cold to dominate the map.
- At Gunpoint (Reworked): For the immersion seekers, this brawl now forces a first-person perspective directly from the cockpit. No more hovering cameras—it’s just you, your dashboard, and the incoming fire.
Balance Changes & Mechanics
Beyond the flashy new parts, the “Playing with Fire” update brings some heavy-hitting balance tweaks. Specifically, the blast damage mechanics have been overhauled. Fragments have been reduced by 25%, and damage now drops off more sharply as you move away from the explosion’s centre. This means precision aiming is more rewarded than ever.
Is the Battle Pass Worth It?
While all players can unlock recipes for new structural parts and the “Springduck” (priorities, people!), the Battle Pass holders get access to upgraded versions of the new legendary weapons and exclusive cosmetics like the “Bearings” currency and unique portraits.
The “Playing with Fire” season is live now on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Whether you’re looking to master the new saw-launching meta or just want to watch the world burn, it’s time to head back to the garage.
