Tanks Take the Field: Gallipoli’s First Free Expansion Revealed

BlackMill Games dropped an exciting reveal at the FPS Games Show, officially announcing the first free post-launch expansion for Gallipoli. The upcoming update, titled Ali Al Muntar, is scheduled to launch on October 1.

This major update introduces a brand-new map inspired by the historical assault on Ali Al Muntar—a strategic hill that served as a heavily defended position during the Second Battle of Gaza in World War I.

A First for the WW1 Game Series

The centrepiece of the Ali Al Muntar map brings a major gameplay evolution to BlackMill’s historically grounded tactical FPS franchise: armoured tanks.

For the first time across the entire WW1 Game Series (following Verdun, Tannenberg, and Isonzo), mobile armour will play a direct role on the battlefield. The expansion features a cinematic opening sequence where heavy tanks escort attacking forces into position as they make their initial push toward enemy lines.

    Dense Farmland to Hilltop Fortresses

The environment itself adds fresh tactical dynamics for squad play:

    • Natural Cover: The lower terrain features farmland lined with dense rows of cacti—one of the region’s primary exports—creating unique sightline breaks, narrow combat corridors, and cover for infantry flanks.
    • The Final Stand: The final objective sector culminates at the summit of Mound Ali Muntar, where players must fight for control around the iconic Ali Al Muntar shrine (maq?m).

What Else is Coming on October 1?

The Ali Al Muntar update kicks off the developer’s broader Second Expedition content roadmap. Alongside the free map and cinematic tank escorts, players can look forward to:

    • 4 New Weapons: Available for free to expand class arsenals.
    • New Features: Time-of-day/weather presets and proximity chat support.
    • Paid Cosmetic Packs: Two optional cosmetic DLCs—the Khaki Pack (featuring the West Kent subfaction) and the Black Watch Pack (featuring the Scottish subfaction).

Gallipoli is available now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, featuring full crossplay.

Storm the Dardanelles: WW1 Game Series ‘Gallipoli’ Locks in August Release Date with Crossplay!

Historical shooter fans, get your gear ready. BlackMill Games has officially announced that Gallipoli, the highly anticipated next instalment in their critically acclaimed WW1 Game Series, is set to deploy on August 20th.

Following the footsteps of intense trench-warfare predecessors like Verdun, Tannenberg, and Isonzo, Gallipoli is moving the theatre of war to the gruelling, high-stakes Dardanelles Campaign.

Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming launch.

Battle Across All Platforms with Full Crossplay

Whether you are a PC purist or a console commander, you won’t have to fight alone. BlackMill Games has confirmed that Gallipoli will launch simultaneously across a massive range of platforms:

    • PC via Steam, the Microsoft Store, and the Epic Games Store
    • PlayStation 5
    • Xbox Series X|S

Best of all? Full crossplay support is enabled from day one, meaning you can squad up or face off against your friends regardless of what system they are playing on.

    Authentic, Brutal, and Immersive

The WW1 Game Series is renowned for its dedication to historical accuracy, authentic weaponry, and realistic squad-based tactics. Gallipoli promises to bring that same signature intensity to one of the First World War’s most devastating campaigns. Players can expect to experience the sheer scale of amphibious landings, unforgiving hillside charges, and tactical warfare between the Allied forces and the Ottoman Empire.

    Price and Launch Day Discounts

When the game drops on August 20th, it will be incredibly budget-friendly. Gallipoli will have a standard retail price at a very reasonable €29.99 / $29.99 / £24.99.

But it gets better: early adopters will be rewarded! BlackMill Games is offering a 25% launch discount, making it the perfect time to recruit your squad and jump straight into the action without breaking the bank.

  • The Ottoman Front Awaits: WW1 Gallipoli Launches May 21st!

The Ottoman Front Awaits: WW1 Gallipoli Launches May 21st!

Move over Western Front, there’s a new theatre of war in town. BlackMill Games, the historical maestros behind the acclaimed WW1 Game Series, have officially sounded the charge. The next major instalment, Gallipoli, is set to storm onto PC and consoles on 21 May 2026.

The announcement comes with a poignant timing, landing just ahead of Anzac Day (25 April). To mark the occasion, the developers released a stunning new trailer that pays tribute to the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZACs) and the sheer scale of the campaign.

A New Front in the Great War

While previous titles like Verdun and Isonzo focused on the muddy trenches of Europe and the vertical heights of the Alps, Gallipoli shifts the lens to the Middle Eastern Front. Players will find themselves thrust into the gruelling Ottoman campaigns, choosing sides between the British Empire and the Ottoman forces.

    Key Features to Expect:

    • Iconic Beach Landings: Experience the tension of rowing to shore in fragile boats under heavy fire—an authentic recreation of the landings at Anzac Cove.
    • Diverse Environments: Fight through sun-baked deserts, coastal dunes, and war-torn urban locations across the Gallipoli Peninsula and Mesopotamia.
    • Historical Authenticity: As per BlackMill’s signature style, expect period-accurate weaponry (including “jam tin” grenades), uniforms, and maps designed with meticulous historical detail.
    • Full Crossplay: Whether you’re on PC (Steam, Epic, Microsoft Store), PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X|S, you’ll be able to join the same 50-player battlefields from day one.

    Honour and Realism

Jos Hoebe, founder of BlackMill Games, emphasised the weight behind this project:

“Ahead of ANZAC Day, our new trailer aims to shine a light on ANZAC Cove, a battlefield we’ve carefully brought to life in-game. It’s a setting that carries real historical weight, and we hope to encourage reflection on the events that took place there.”

For fans of tactical, squad-based shooters, Gallipoli looks to be the deepest dive into the Great War yet. The game will launch at a competitive price point of £24.99 ($29.99 / €29.99).

    Ready to Enlist?

If you’ve spent the last few years scaling the mountains of Isonzo, it’s time to trade your climbing gear for sand-resistant boots. You can already add Gallipoli to your wishlist on your platform of choice to stay updated before the May 21 deployment.

Are you ready to storm the Dardanelles, or will you stand firm in defence of the Ottoman soil? Let us know in the comments!
