    Elden Ring Nightreign Deep of Night

    “Elden Ring: Nightreign” is a standalone, roguelike spin-off of the main game “Elden Ring,” developed by FromSoftware. It was released in late May 2025 and is designed as a co-op experience for up to three players.

    The gameplay loop of “Nightreign” involves teams of players working together over a three-day in-game cycle to prepare for a final boss, known as a “Nightlord.” The game takes place in a procedurally generated version of the Limgrave region from the original game, called “Limveld.”

    “Deep of Night” is a free, high-difficulty update for “Elden Ring: Nightreign” that was released in September 2025. It is a new game mode for experienced players who found the original expeditions too easy.

    Here’s what “Deep of Night” adds to the game:

    • Increased Difficulty: Enemies are stronger across the board, with higher health, damage, and stagger resistance.
    • Mutated Enemies: A new type of “souped-up” enemy with a red glow, which are even more challenging but drop new weapons with enhanced, and sometimes double, effects. These new weapons also come with a negative drawback or debuff.
    • Ranking System: Players progress through “Depths” or ranks based on their performance. Winning a run advances them to a deeper, more challenging Depth, while losing pushes them back to an easier one.
    • Increased Randomness: The mode introduces more randomness, such as not knowing which Nightlord you will face or if “Shifting Earth” events will occur, requiring players to be more adaptable with their builds.
    • New Weapons and Relics: The mode adds new types of weapons with more powerful effects and “Depths Relics” that grant additional effects not found in the base game.
    • Dormant Powers: Some of the new relics come with “dormant powers” that can grant items or affect gameplay in new ways, like increasing the chance to find a specific weapon type.

    The update also includes various balance changes and bug fixes for the base game. The “Deep of Night” mode is meant to provide a significant challenge and increase the replayability for veteran players of “Elden Ring: Nightreign.”
