    Introducing the New Classes: Support and Savagery!

    The stars of this update are undoubtedly the two new class advancements, offering fresh playstyles for two popular base classes:

    1. Paramedic (Female Gunner Advancement)

    Meet the Battlefield Angel—a fusion of cutting-edge Empyrean technology and combat mastery. Paramedic steps into the much-needed Buffer role for the Female Gunner line, but with a unique defensive twist:

    • Role: Buffer (Support)
    • Key Gimmick: Specialises in preemptive defence using Shields that grant Super Armour and damage reduction. She focuses on protecting allies rather than direct healing.
    • Playstyle: Requires mastery of shield timing and resource management to ensure party stability. She provides support with a high-tech, tactical flair.

    2. Chimera (Archer Advancement)

    On the flip side of the spectrum, we have the chaotic, eccentric Chimera, the newest advancement for the Archer class. Equal parts mad scientist and chaotic fighter:

    • Role: Damage Dealer (Fixed/Independent Power)
    • Key Gimmick: Unleashes explosive, unpredictable attacks using a Compound Bow to fire blades, axes, and other salvaged junk.
    • Playstyle: Her unique Recycle system rewards players for skillfully retrieving spent armaments, reducing cooldowns and encouraging aggressive, manic combat.

    The VP System: Redefining Skill Customisation

    Beyond the new classes, this update introduces a game-changing feature for all Neo: Awakened characters: the Skill Evolution (VP) System.

    • What it is: The VP System allows players to modify the core function of their existing skills without altering their total attack power.
    • How it works: Each VP-compatible skill offers two Variant Options, letting you choose an effect or core mechanic change that best suits your playstyle.
    • Impact: This system provides an intuitive and flexible way to create personalised and dynamic character builds, offering a new depth to character optimisation. It pairs with a new Skill Enhancement feature that lets you adjust damage or cooldown properties.

    The survival horror genre is getting a brutal and ambitious new entry, and it’s one you absolutely shouldn’t miss. From the acclaimed Polish developers at Bloober Team (known for The Medium and the Silent Hill 2 remake), Cronos: The New Dawn is a bold, action-focused take on the genre that blends time travel, retro-futurism, and heart-pounding resource management.

    Released on September 5, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and even the Nintendo Switch 2, Cronos is proving that there are still plenty of fresh nightmares to explore.

    Salvaging the Past, Surviving the Future

    Cronos: The New Dawn thrusts you into a bleak, post-apocalyptic future. You play as a Traveller, an agent of the enigmatic Collective, clad in imposing futuristic armour. Your mission is not to rebuild, but to salvage the past.

    Humanity was wiped out by a devastating event known as “The Change,” which transformed people into grotesque, monstrous “Orphans.” Your job is to traverse the ravaged wastelands of the future, locate temporal rifts, and jump back in time to 1980s Poland, just as the catastrophe is unfolding. Once there, you must extract the Essences (souls/consciousness) of key individuals who perished, in the hope of uncovering the origins of the apocalypse.

    This unique premise, blending Eastern European brutalism with cold sci-fi horror, provides a gripping narrative backdrop that sets it apart from your standard zombie fare.

    Don’t Let Them Merge: The Core of the Horror

    While the game takes strong visual and atmospheric cues from classics like Dead Space (a protagonist in a chunky suit, tight third-person camera), Cronos introduces its own twisted, challenging mechanics:

    • The Merge Mechanic: The most significant difference is the terrifying “Merge” mechanic. Killing a monster isn’t the end. Fallen enemies leave behind a grotesque, tentacled corpse, and if a living Orphan reaches it, they will Merge, evolving into a faster, tougher, and far deadlier abomination. The only way to prevent this worst-case scenario? Burn the bodies immediately. This forces players to constantly manage their limited flamethrower fuel and make split-second strategic decisions in combat.
    • Action-Horror Combat: Unlike some of Bloober’s earlier, more psychological games, Cronos features heavy, deliberate third-person combat. Weapons are limited, ammo is scarce, and every shot must count. You’ll need to use your transforming firearm, stomp attack, and environment to control the horrifying, ever-present threat.
    • The Harvester and Madness: Your essential tool is the Harvester, used to extract Essences in the past. These Essences bestow valuable perks on the Traveller but come at a price. The more Essences you carry, the more “haunted” your suit becomes, leading to unsettling visual and auditory disturbances that push the Traveller—and you—closer to the edge of madness.
