  • Be Kind, Rewind, and Build an Empire: Open-World Simulator Rewind 99 Hits 1.0!

Be Kind, Rewind, and Build an Empire: Open-World Simulator Rewind 99 Hits 1.0!

If you have ever felt a sudden wave of nostalgia for fluorescent lights, plastic VHS cases, and the warm hum of a tape rewinder, independent studio Gunmetal Games has just the game for you. The studio’s wildly creative open-world video store simulator, Rewind 99, is officially set to leave Early Access and release its long-awaited Version 1.0 on August 27 at 8 AM PT.

To celebrate the full release, players can jump in right now for $11.99, or take advantage of a launch-week discount dropping the price by 30% to just $8.39.

Here is why gamers, management sim fans, and nostalgic ’90s kids should have Rewind 99 on their radar.

More Than Just a Register: A Sandbox RPG in Disguise

At first glance, Rewind 99 casts you as a modest clerk running the last video rental store in Reshoot Springs—a low-poly, neon-soaked town set in 1999 that is slowly abandoning physical media.

Your initial tasks sound like a standard cosy management sim:

    • Stock shelves with movies, snacks, and retro collectables.
    • Process rentals and manage customer lines.
    • Manually rewind tapes (because non-rewinders are the worst).
    • Hire employees and set store hours.

However, calling Rewind 99 a simple store simulator does it a massive disservice. The shop is merely a front. Step outside the sliding glass doors, and you’ll find a sprawling, walkable open-world sandbox filled with quirky NPCs, deep progression systems, and a dark side hustle economy.

From VHS Clerk to Rental Racketeer

To survive the rise of corporate streaming giants and keep your shop afloat, you’ll need to step out from behind the counter and dive into side hustles. Rewind 99 leans heavily into sandbox absurdism, allowing players to build a true underground empire:

    • Run an Underground Fight Club: Earn extra cash on the side by organising bare-knuckle bouts.
    • Become a Movie Producer: Produce your own films and mix custom tapes to sell in your shop.
    • Enforce Late Fees—Violently: Send out repo men or personally collect overdue fees from delinquent customers.
    • Gamble and Hustle: Try your luck on lottery scratchers, set up claw machines, or make deals with illicit candy dealers.
    • Co-Op Chaos: Take on the town solo or team up with up to 4 players in online co-op to run the business together.

    What’s New in Version 1.0?

Gunmetal Games listened closely to community feedback throughout Early Access, focusing Version 1.0 on deep mechanical polish and expanded content:

    • Rebuilt Employee AI: Staff are no longer liabilities. Overhauled pathing and behaviour mean your employees will actually restock, prioritise tasks, and keep the shop running smoothly.
    • Major Performance Overhaul: A comprehensive optimisation pass across the engine guarantees steady frame rates, even during long, asset-heavy gameplay sessions.
    • Expanded Map & Hidden Lore: Discover new secret locations across Reshoot Springs, alongside scattered lore fragments and artefacts that reveal what is really happening behind the scenes in town.
    • Quality of Life Enhancements: Enjoy fine-tuned customisation options, balanced progression systems, variable store hours, and overhauled pricing mechanics.

Grab the Deal Before It Rewinds!

Whether you want to build a cosy retro Blockbuster homage, produce B-tier indie films, or build a criminal syndicate disguised as a VHS shop, Rewind 99 offers one of the most uniquely entertaining simulator experiences of the year.

Don’t wait—grab Rewind 99 during its launch week for just $8.39 (30% off) before it returns to its standard price of $11.99.

The developer has announced that their upcoming title, Domain Paradox: Growth, is featured as part of the Ukrainian Games Festival 2026 on Steam.

From Late-Night Code to Official Debut

    • Focused Exploration: Ditching traditional keys, fetch quests, and endless clutter, the gameplay focuses entirely on pure, immersive environmental navigation.
    • Rich Audio & Narrative: Featuring full professional voice acting and custom sound design to heighten the psychological tension of being stranded in an unearthly zone.

The hit retrofuturistic action roguelike Mega City Force (developed by Undreamed Games and published by Ravenage Games) has officially expanded its territory beyond PC. Starting today, console agents can jump into the high-octane, pixel-art action on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.

If you’re a fan of twin-stick shooters, classic 80s and 90s action cinema, and punishing bullet-hell gameplay, this is the console drop you’ve been waiting for.

The Law Strikes Back: Bring Order to Mega City

In the neon-soaked, crime-ridden dystopia of Mega City, the streets are overrun by ruthless criminals, brutal bosses, and a greedy megacorporation bent on total control. The regular authorities have failed, leaving only the incorruptible, hard-hitting agents of the Mega City Force to stand as the final line of defence.

Whether you prefer taking on the underworld as a lone ranger or tearing up the asphalt alongside a partner in revamped local couch co-op, Mega City Force puts you in the boots of an unstoppable law enforcer ready to unleash the beast of justice.

What Makes Mega City Force a Must-Play?

    1. Diverse Roster of Agents & Playstyles

No two cops fight the same. You can pick from a lineup of distinct agents, each tailored to different tactical approaches:

    • The Cyborg: A tanky killing machine with three weapon slots, heavy armour, and an EMP-like magnetic pulse to interrupt attacks.
    • The Scout: A nimble, stealthy agent utilising optical camouflage and precision laser sights for huge critical hits.
    • The Rookie: A classic all-rounder equipped with tactical dodge rolls and stun grenades.

As you progress, you’ll unlock even more agents, legendary outfits inspired by pop culture icons, and specialised loadouts.

    2. Massive Arsenal and Procedural Replayability

To clear out the city’s darkest corners, you’ll need heavy firepower. Blast, punch, and dodge your way through procedurally generated levels featuring a massive array of weapons, special abilities, and shop upgrades. Completing the game unlocks higher difficulty tiers, keeping the action intense run after run.

    3. VHS-Era Aesthetics & Pumping Synthwave

Mega City Force is an unashamed love letter to 80s and 90s action heroes. Beyond the gorgeous, explosive pixel-art visuals, the game boasts a powerhouse soundtrack. Take to the Skies: Remote Reaper: FPV Combat Drone Simulator Leaves Early Access This October!

Get ready to experience the intense, fast-paced world of modern aerial warfare. Solo Ukrainian developer Vladyslav Fomenko has officially announced that Remote Reaper: FPV Combat Drone Simulator is preparing to take off into full release.

The simulator will officially wrap up its Early Access phase and launch its 1.0 version on Steam on October 14, 2026.

The launch date was revealed alongside a brand-new action-packed trailer, debuted as part of the Ukrainian Games Festival 2026, showcasing the simulator’s grounded realism, brutal electronic warfare mechanics, and high-stakes combat operations.

Built in Collaboration with Frontline Pilots

Unlike standard flight sims, Remote Reaper is built with direct input from real active-duty military drone operators. The title puts players directly in the pilot seat as an FPV (First-Person View) drone operator navigating modern warfare scenarios.

The 1.0 release promises a refined experience packed with features that require strategy, razor-sharp reflexes, and precise mechanics:

    • Authentic Flight Physics & Equipment: Players can craft custom builds using real-world specs, mounting various frames, motors, propellers, cameras, and specialised warheads (such as shaped charges or Explosively Formed Penetrators).
    • Realistic Electronic Warfare (EW): Modern battlefields are hostile to signals. Players must manoeuvre around static, overcome signal loss, navigate terrain obstacles, and punch through enemy jamming to land hits before connection drops entirely.
    • Extensive Controller Support: Designed for all skill levels, the simulator supports full physics modes mapped to popular FPV radios like RadioMaster, DJI FPV, and TBS, as well as traditional Xbox/PlayStation controllers. For casual players, a simplified keyboard and mouse mode holds altitude for easier handling.
    • Online Co-Op & Mission Editor: Take on targets with friends in online co-op missions or build custom combat scenarios using the in-game mission editor.
    • Dynamic Weather & Day/Night Cycles: Battle through shifting winds, heavy rain, thick fog, and nighttime operations that constantly test visibility and control stability.

    Mark Your Calendars

Whether you are an FPV hobbyist, a military sim enthusiast, or a gamer looking to test your tactical precision, Remote Reaper: FPV Combat Drone Simulator promises one of the most authentic tactical flight experiences available on PC.

Be sure to check out the fresh trailer showcased at the Ukrainian Games Festival 2026 and prepare your rig—1.0 arrives on Steam on October 14, 2026.

  • Electrifying Terror: Meet Eleanor “Nervous Nellie” Ashford in Rock, Paper, Severed

Electrifying Terror: Meet Eleanor “Nervous Nellie” Ashford in Rock, Paper, Severed

Content Warning: The following character background contains themes of domestic violence, psychological trauma, child abuse, and murder.

Indie developer Buzzin’ Games has released the fourth and final entry in The Damned Files—their sinister character reveal series for the upcoming psychological horror tabletop strategy game, Rock, Paper, Scissors, Severed.

Joining the previously revealed roster of tortured souls summoned by the mysterious entity known as The Old Sire, players are now introduced to Eleanor “Nellie” Ashford, better known to horror fans and police files alike as “Nervous Nellie.”

The Final Sinner: Who is Nervous Nellie?

Eleanor Ashford’s past reads like a tragic, blood-curdling nightmare. Raised in Liverpool under the strict control of an abusive father—an unlicensed electrician who believed pain equalled discipline—Nellie was subjected to unimaginable cruelty. As a child, crude electrical nodes were permanently fitted to her temples, used to punish her whenever she displeased him.

Her escape seemed possible when she met her fiancé, David. However, when her father attempted to stop the marriage by dragging Nellie back to his cellar chair, something snapped. Nellie fought back, seizing the live wiring and forcing the deadly current through her father, killing him and permanently fusing the electrical nodes into her skull.

Though she initially thought she had secured her freedom, her marriage to David spiralled into familiar domestic violence. When she ultimately killed David in self-defence, her broken mind witnessed a tall, menacing figure standing in the room: The Old Sire.

Driven insane by trauma and newly birthed fanaticism, Nellie became “The Black Widow of Liverpool.” Believing her killings were ritualistic sacrifices to her new God, she left a trail of victims across Liverpool covered in electrical burns before vanishing without a trace.

Now, driven by manic zealotry, Nellie has answered The Old Sire’s final call.

High Stakes and High Tension: What is Rock, Paper, Severed?

Rock, Paper, Severed takes the innocent, universal hand game of Rock, Paper, Scissors and plunges it into a horrifying, high-stakes tabletop nightmare inspired by British folklore and the dark tradition of Sin-Eating.

The rules of the game are ruthlessly simple:

    • The Rules: Face off against desperate opponents around The Old Sire’s table in single-player or multiplayer modes.
    • The Stakes: Every round you lose doesn’t just lower your score—it costs you a finger.
    • The Strategy: Players must read their opponents, utilise strategic items to bend the odds, and survive each brutal throw as options slowly dwindle.

With Nellie Ashford joining Dr. Amy Chen (“Lobot-Amy”) and Edward Mullen (“Metal ‘Ed”), the four playable sinners are officially locked in. Each character brings their own tragic history, guilt, and distinct psychological edge to the table.

    Playable Debut at Gamescom 2026

For gamers attending Gamescom 2026, Buzzin’ Games will be showcasing hands-on playable demos of Rock, Paper, Severed in the B2B area, allowing press and players alike to step up to The Old Sire’s table for the first time.

Rock, Paper, Severed is currently in development for PC. You can head over to Steam today to add it to your wishlist and prepare your hand for the ultimate gamble.

  • Weathering the Storm: Echoes of Elysium Drops Massive Tempest Update

Weathering the Storm: Echoes of Elysium Drops Massive Tempest Update

Captains, it’s time to batten down the hatches! Developers Loric Games and publisher Snail Games USA have officially deployed the Tempest update—a game-changing content drop for their airborne open-world survival RPG, Echoes of Elysium.

If you thought navigating the floating archipelago was already a test of airship engineering, get ready for a serious challenge. The Tempest update introduces highly requested dynamic weather systems, complete with immersive rain and wind effects that aren’t just for show—they will actively alter how you build, maintain, and pilot your fleet.

    Rain Isn’t Just Visual Anymore

Gone are the days when a downpour was merely an atmospheric backdrop. In the Tempest update, precipitation directly impacts your airship and its payload.

    • Added Weight & Drag: Rainwater accumulates on exposed ship components and stored cargo. As your vessel gets soaked, it gains real-time weight and drag, forcing captains to keep an eye on altitude and balance during heavy storms.
    • Temporary Station Outages: Leaving critical machinery exposed to the elements comes with a price. Onboard stations can get soaked through and temporarily become inoperable until the rain lets up and they dry out.
    • Biome-Specific Weather: Weather patterns are now localised, with each biome featuring its own unique climate cycles and storm frequency.

Fortunately, items and ship parts naturally dry out over time once you fly out of the storm, making covered deck designs and weather planning a key part of airship construction moving forward.

High Winds and Rebalanced Flight Dynamics

Wind has received a major overhaul, making skyward currents stronger and far more unpredictable. Sailing against powerful headwinds now requires significantly more power and strategic manoeuvring.

To complement these environmental hazards, the developers have completely rebalanced:

    • Sails & Thrusters: Reworked to give players more control against opposing wind resistance.
    • Ship Mass: Adjusted to factor in wetness variables and added cargo weight during downpours.

Navigating through a turbulent sky is no longer just about pointing your bow in the right direction—it’s a test of your ship’s propulsion, layout, and structural weight distribution.

Quality of Life & Build Mode Tweaks

Alongside the headline weather systems, Loric Games has packed the Tempest update with vital quality-of-life (QoL) improvements and UI adjustments to help players manage their vessels:

    • Live Encumbrance Tracking: The ship weight UI now dynamically displays how much weight a new building component will add before you place it, as well as how much total weight is freed up when destroying parts.
    • Detailed Tooltips: Build mode and station tooltips have been upgraded to show granular data on weight, speed stats, and operational requirements.
    • Underground Spawns Fixed: Ground-based scrap metal piles will no longer frustratingly spawn underground, ensuring smoother resource gathering when touch-downs occur.
    • Audio & Atmosphere Polish: Updated soundscapes, tuned music tracks, and ambient wind/rain audio bring the stormy skies of Elysium to life like never before.

    Ready to Take Flight?

Whether you’re exploring solo or taking to the skies in up to six-player co-op, the Tempest update turns the atmosphere of Echoes of Elysium into a living, breathing obstacle. Adapt your designs, shield your machinery, and respect the sky, or risk taking on water and plunging straight out of the cloudline.

The Tempest update is out now for all players on PC Early Access.

  • Four Updates, Zero Extra Cost: Yet Another Zombie Survivors Hits 1.0 on PC & Consoles!

Four Updates, Zero Extra Cost: Yet Another Zombie Survivors Hits 1.0 on PC & Consoles!

If you’ve been keeping an eye on the bullet heaven/reverse-bullet-hell scene, you know how hard it is to stand out in a crowd dominated by iconic wave-survival action. Yet, Awesome Games Studio managed to do just that. After racking up over 600,000 sales and securing a 91% “Very Positive” rating during its Early Access run, Yet Another Zombie Survivors has officially crossed the finish line—launching its massive Version 1.0 update across PC and major console platforms.

Even better? While many developers use a full release as an excuse to bump up the cost, the studio delivered what amounts to four major updates’ worth of brand-new content without raising the game’s base price of $14.99 / £12.79 (plus launch discounts on select storefronts).

Here is everything you need to know about the 1.0 launch and why it’s time to rally your squad.

    Multiplatform Launch & High-Octane Action

As of August 20, players can jump into the squad-building carnage on Steam, GOG, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Nintendo Switch players won’t be left behind for long either, as a Switch port is set to follow shortly.

While the core loop remains simple—build a team of survivors, customise their upgrades, and hold down the line against endlessly swelling hordes of the infected—the 1.0 release fundamentally expands what a bullet heaven game can offer.

    What’s New in Version 1.0?

The 1.0 release isn’t just a polish pass; it introduces features rarely seen in the genre:

Combining team-building strategy, action-RPG style synergies, and smooth performance on PC and modern consoles, Yet Another Zombie Survivors cements itself as a must-play for fans of Vampire Survivors, Brotato, and Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor.

Whether you’re a returning veteran looking to test out the Ranger in the Bio Lab or a total newcomer picking up a controller for the first time, there’s never been a better time to assemble your crew and clean up the streets.

City-Building on the Back of a Space Whale

If you loved Balancing Monkey Games’ previous hit Before We Leave, you are in for a treat. Beyond These Stars takes the cozy, thoughtful city-building mechanics that made their debut title famous and transports them to a breathtaking cosmic scale.

In Beyond These Stars, you are tasked with building and managing a thriving civilization on the back of Kiki, a majestic, space-faring giant whale traveling through the cosmos.

Building a colony on a living, breathing creature presents a completely unique set of challenges:

    • Symbiotic Survival: You aren’t just building structures; you’re maintaining a delicate relationship with Kiki. Deplete too many resources or disregard your host’s well-being, and your civilization’s foundation could literally swim away into danger.
    • Galactic Exploration: As Kiki journeys through the galaxy, your settlement will encounter different star systems, unexplored planets, and mysterious cosmic phenomena.
    • Outpost Expansion: Send out expeditions to gather rare resources from surrounding worlds to sustain your growing population and research new technologies.
    • Cozy Yet Complex: Balancing Monkey Games is known for blending relaxed, non-violent gameplay with deep, satisfying logistics and resource management.
