Into the Deep: Squido Studio and Spectral Games Partner Up for Lovecraftian VR Adventure ‘The Lightkeepers’

The virtual reality landscape is about to get a whole lot darker—and a lot more exciting. Squido Studio, the brilliant minds behind the critically acclaimed VR adventure platformer No More Rainbows and the chaotic sandbox universe of DigiGods, have officially announced a major publishing partnership with Spectral Games.

Spectral Games, widely recognised for their impressive work on the immersive Medieval Dynasty, is teaming up with Squido Studio to bring their highly anticipated upcoming title, The Lightkeepers, to life.

The announcement, which dropped alongside a thrilling new gameplay trailer at the VR Games Showcase, also locked in a global release date: September 10th, 2026, on the Meta Quest Store for Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S.

Surviving the Night: What is The Lightkeepers?

The Lightkeepers is a cooperative action-survival VR game set in a haunting, beautifully realised 1920s world heavily inspired by the cosmic horror works of H.P. Lovecraft. In it, players assume the role of the ultimate line of defence between humanity and the insatiable nightmares lurking beneath the ocean waves.

The gameplay loop splits into a frantic, strategic race against time across day and night cycles:

    • By Day (Explore & Plunder): Take to the volatile seas by boat to explore mist-shrouded, hand-designed islands. Players will venture into forgotten undergrounds, solve environmental puzzles, and clear out dark dungeons to gather vital resources and treasures.
    • By Twilight (Prepare & Craft): Back at the lighthouse, the team must work together to distribute responsibilities. You’ll use your hard-earned resources to craft mines and grenades, set up tactical fortifications, patch up wounds, and gear up for the coming onslaught.
    • By Night (Fight Until Dawn): When the cursed moon rises, the sea spews out terrifying cosmic horrors. With a massive arsenal of over 20 diverse weapons—ranging from firearms to melee gear—you and your crew must fight tooth and nail. The goal is simple but brutal: keep the lighthouse flame burning at all costs. If the light goes out, darkness consumes everything.

    A Powerhouse Partnership for VR

This partnership represents a massive step forward for both studios. Squido Studio has built a fierce reputation for defying VR boundaries with intuitive movement mechanics and player freedom. By stepping into the publishing ring with Spectral Games—a team that excels at mechanical depth and rich atmospheric world-building—they are positioning The Lightkeepers to be one of the premier VR cooperative experiences of the year.

Beyond the frantic combat, the game will feature a deep meta-progression system, allowing players to permanently unlock character cosmetics and upgrade starting weapons between missions, giving the title plenty of replayability.

    Sign the Contract

If you think you have what it takes to brave the depths, the wait won’t be too long. The Lightkeepers arrives on Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S this autumn. You can currently wishlist the game on the Meta Store or sign up for upcoming playtests by joining the official Spectral Games Discord.

Get your crew ready. When September 10th comes, any strategy is a good strategy—as long as the light doesn’t go out!

  • Meta Quest Smash Hit ‘Scary Baboon’ Gets Contaminated: ENVER Drops Massive Toxic Update

Meta Quest Smash Hit ‘Scary Baboon’ Gets Contaminated: ENVER Drops Massive Toxic Update

VR horror fans, grab your hazmat suits. Studio ENVER has officially unleashed the Toxic Update for Scary Baboon, dropping a wave of terrifying new mechanics, major map revamps, and plenty of community-requested chaos into one of Meta Quest’s most popular social horror sandboxes.

Following on the heels of the mind-bending Dreamcore expansion and the combat-heavy Fight Back Update, this latest drop proves that ENVER is listening closely to its massive player base, which now boasts a Discord community of over 200,000 members.

Here is everything you need to know about what’s lurking in the toxic fumes.

    Fan-Favourite Maps Just Got Deadlier

The core of the Toxic Update centres on deep overhauls of two of the game’s most iconic locations, turning familiar escape routes into stress-inducing death traps.

    1. The Sewers (With a New Ticking Clock)

Already one of the tensest environments in Scary Baboon, the Sewers map has undergone a radical mechanic rework.

    • The Flood Event: Every five minutes, the sewers will completely flood for a full sixty seconds. Players must drop everything and scramble for high ground to survive the rising waters.
    • A New Threat: As if drowning weren’t enough, a brand-new sewer monster has been added to the depths, ensuring you are never truly alone while trying to stay dry.

    2. The Hospital (Where Ghosts Don’t Rest)

The revamped Hospital map introduces a chilling, haunting mechanic that fundamentally changes multiplayer dynamics.

    • Vengeful Spirits: When a player dies inside the Hospital, they don’t just head to a spectator screen. Instead, their ghost lingers in the space for a few minutes.
    • Turn on Your Friends: These temporary ghosts have the power to hunt down and kill surviving players—or seek immediate revenge on the teammates who left them behind to die.

Biohazards, Better Menus, and Love Letters

Beyond the map overhauls, the update brings a fresh biohazard-themed cosmetic bundle so you can dress the part while navigating the contaminated chaos.

ENVER has also delivered a suite of quality-of-life improvements based on player feedback, including an entirely revamped settings menu, cleaner user interfaces, more intuitive tools for making friends in-game, and expanded accessibility features.

“This update is our version of a love letter to the community, a love letter which includes a flooding sewer, monsters, and a hospital haunted by ghosts.” — Will Creighton, Game Director at ENVER

    The Verdict

With millions of downloads and a stellar 4.6-star rating on the Meta Quest store, Scary Baboon continues to dominate the VR social space by keeping its content rhythm fast, simple, and incredibly shareable. The Toxic Update doubles down on what makes the game a viral sensation on YouTube and TikTok: high-impact panic, unpredictable player interactions, and pure multiplayer fun.

The Toxic Update is available to play right now on Meta Quest. Dive in, watch the clock, and watch your friends’ backs—especially after they die.

  • Rom-Com Meets the Undead: Why Cute & Dead is the Wackiest VR Shooter You Need This Summer

Rom-Com Meets the Undead: Why Cute & Dead is the Wackiest VR Shooter You Need This Summer

If you told us a few years ago that the developers behind the gritty, hyper-realistic physics of Hellsplit: Arena would follow it up with a bright, chaotic VR zombie shooter about a nerd trying to secure a prom date during the apocalypse, we probably would have assumed you’d spent too much time in the headset.

Yet, here we are. Deep Type Games has officially unveiled Cute & Dead, and it is exactly the kind of beautifully unhinged gaming mashup the VR world needs right now. Blending the fast-paced, nostalgic energy of 90s couch co-op classics like Zombies Ate My Neighbors with modern VR technology and a literal dating simulator twist, this title is shaping up to be pure, unadulterated fun.

The Premise: Apocalypse? Sure. But Can I Get Her Number?

In Cute & Dead, you don’t play as a gruff, grizzled military survivor. Instead, you step into the shoes of a typical school nerd. The world has gone to absolute ruin, and flesh-eating hordes are roaming the streets, but you have your priorities straight: you are going to ask the hottest girl in school out on a date.

To do that, you just have to find her. And rescue her. Along with 30 unique potential “girlfriends” scattered across the game’s maps.

The loop is brilliant: you fight your way through colourful, stylised environments, gun down wacky undead variants, rescue a classmate, and then head to the club to dance the night away and build your relationship. Oh, and did we mention you get a loyal dog companion who fights right alongside you? Because you do.

Nostalgic Chaos Blended with Modern VR

The combat in Cute & Dead is fast, chaotic, and intentionally slapstick. It completely discards grimdark survival tropes in favour of arcade-style thrill.

    • The Arsenal: You’ll be using everything from improvised, everyday gadgets to high-powered weaponry across 10 different weapon varieties to fend off 8 distinct enemy types.
    • The Vibe: The top-down, frantic energy of Zombies Ate My Neighbours translates beautifully into roomscale VR. It’s colourful, frantic, and requires you to keep moving.
    • The Collectable Element: With 8 unique maps to explore and 30 characters to unlock and meet, there is a massive checklist for completionists who want to rescue everyone and find every easter egg.

Our Take: It’s refreshing to see a VR developer lean entirely into the “just plain fun” territory. The mechanics look sharp, the aesthetic is wonderfully vibrant, and the juxtaposition of arcade violence with a dating sim is comedy gold.

    When Can You Play It?

The wait won’t be long at all. Cute & Dead is scheduled to drop first on the Meta Horizon Store in July 2026, with full compatibility for Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest Pro, and the upcoming Quest 3S.

If you are a PCVR purist, hang tight—the game is slated to arrive on Steam VR in the second half of 2026. (As for PSVR2? The developers haven’t planned it just yet, but they haven’t ruled it out for the future either).

If you’re ready to lock, load, and lock down a date, keep your eyes on TechMash for our full review when the game launches next month!

  • Something Evil is Watching: JanduSoft and Bowl of Tentacles Unveil ‘Order 13 VR’

Something Evil is Watching: JanduSoft and Bowl of Tentacles Unveil ‘Order 13 VR’

If you think your day job is stressful, try pulling a night shift in a pitch-black warehouse while a malevolent presence stalks you from the shadows.

Fresh off the heels of the recent Ruff Talk VR Gaming Showcase, publisher JanduSoft and developer Bowl of Tentacles (the brilliant minds behind Evil Inside VR) have officially joined forces again. Their mission? To take the critically acclaimed flatscreen psychological horror game, Order 13, and transform it into a fully immersive virtual reality nightmare: Order 13 VR.

Set to launch later this year on Meta Quest 3, PlayStation VR2, and Steam VR, this isn’t just a simple port—it’s a ground-up reimagining of what it means to survive the dark.

    What is Order 13 VR?

Originally developed as a flatscreen title by Cybernetic Walrus, Order 13 won over thousands of fans with its uniquely terrifying premise. You play as a lonely worker stationed at a remote, massive fulfilment centre. Your shift consists of reviewing incoming orders, venturing deep into the maze-like aisles to retrieve items, and shipping them out to meet tight quotas.

Oh, and you have exactly two sources of comfort: a flashlight that barely cuts through the gloom, and your loyal pet cat.

But as the night progresses, the warehouse begins to warp. The shadows grow longer, the noises grow louder, and you quickly realise you are far from alone.

Built from the Ground Up for Tactile Terror

Bowl of Tentacles is taking this eerie premise and translating it completely into the natural language of virtual reality. Here is what players can expect when they step onto the warehouse floor:

    • Physical Inventory & Two Hands: Forget magic pockets. In Order 13 VR, you only have two hands. A fully physical inventory system built into your backpack means you have to make harrowing choices on the fly. Do you hold onto your flashlight for dear life, or do you risk dropping it in the pitch-black to carry a valuable package?
    • Hands-On Interactions: Every action is completely physical. You will be scanning barcodes, picking up packages, moving heavy boxes, and physically navigating the terrifying aisles with your own hands.
    • Atmospheric Redesign: The game features a completely overhauled 3D spatial audio system and dynamic lighting built explicitly to induce panic. Every metallic creak in the distance will have you spinning around in real-time.
    • Protect the Feline: Yes, the cat is back! You’ll need to use your hard-earned wages to upgrade your tools and keep your feline companion safe. After all, he’s the only friend you’ve got in this facility.

“Working together on Evil Inside VR showed us what Bowl of Tentacles is capable of when it comes to reinventing horror. With Order 13 VR, we are taking ordinary warehouse tasks and turning them into breathless moments of pure survival.” — JanduSoft

Punch Your Clock — Wishlists Are Open Now!

Whether you’re a VR veteran or looking for the ultimate excuse to finally dust off your headset, Order 13 VR promises to be one of the most tense psychological horror simulators of the year.

The game is officially slated for release later in 2026. If you think you have the nerves to handle the ultimate night shift, you can already wishlist Order 13 VR right now on Steam, Meta Quest, and PlayStation VR2.

Just remember: keep your head down, fulfil the quotas, and whatever you do… don’t look directly into the shadows.

  • Descent into Darkness: Evil Inside VR Hits PS VR2 and Meta Quest 3

Descent into Darkness: Evil Inside VR Hits PS VR2 and Meta Quest 3

If you’ve been following the indie horror scene, you’ll know that JanduSoft’s psychological thriller Evil Inside made some serious waves back in 2021. But today marks a massive milestone for the developers and their partners at Bowl of Tentacles. After a long and intense development journey, Evil Inside VR has officially launched, bringing its claustrophobic brand of terror to the PlayStation VR2 and Meta Quest 3.

Check out the launch trailer below to see why you might want to keep the lights on tonight.

Not Just a Port, But a Reimagining

Let’s get one thing straight: this isn’t just the original game with a VR camera slapped on top. JanduSoft and the VR specialists at Bowl of Tentacles have spent the last few years rebuilding the experience from the ground up.

The core story remains—you play as Mark, a teenager trying to contact his deceased mother via a spiritual board—but the way you interact with that world has been completely overhauled.

What’s New in the VR Version?

    • Redesigned Puzzles: Forget clicking on objects; the puzzles have been built from scratch for natural, tactile VR interaction.
    • Revamped Lighting & Audio: The atmosphere is significantly more oppressive, featuring a new spatial sound system that ensures every floorboard creak sounds like it’s right behind you.
    • Total Immersion: Whether you prefer to play standing or seated, the game has been optimised for the unique haptics of the PS VR2 and the high-fidelity lenses of the Quest 3.

“Evil Inside VR is a complete reinterpretation designed specifically for the most immersive medium: virtual reality. Everything has been crafted so players truly feel inside the house and experience the horror firsthand.” — JanduSoft

    Face Your Fears

For those who missed the original, Evil Inside puts you in a shifting, hostile home that acts as much of an adversary as the visions haunting you. By gathering fragments of a spiritual board, you’ll uncover the truth behind a tragic family event—if your nerves can hold out long enough.

Evil Inside VR is available right now on the Meta Store and the PlayStation Store for £11.99 / $13.99.

If you’re looking for a fresh reason to dust off your headset and test your heart rate, this is it. Just don’t say we didn’t warn you about the jump scares.

Are you brave enough to step back into Mark’s house in VR, or is the original still haunting your dreams? Let us know in the comments!
