Lady Nagant, the enigmatic former pro-hero turned assassin, is bringing her unparalleled marksmanship and devastating rifle to the arena. And let me tell you, she’s not just another face in the crowd – she’s a game-changer!
For those unfamiliar with her, Lady Nagant is a force to be reckoned with from the My Hero Academia manga and anime. Her “Rifle” Quirk allows her to generate a powerful sniper rifle from her hair and arm, along with specialised bullets that she can control with incredible precision. This makes her an absolute terror at long range, and ULTRA RUMBLE looks to capture that essence perfectly.

The world of My Hero Academia has smashed its way into the free-to-play battle royale scene, and it’s quite the spectacle! MY HERO ULTRA RUMBLE (MHUR) throws 24 players—heroes and villains alike—into a chaotic, Quirk-fuelled rumble. If you’ve been looking for a battle royale with a serious anime twist, you might just want to pay attention to this one.
The Core Gameplay: A Quirk-tastic Twist
At its heart, MHUR is a team-based battle royale. You drop in with two other players, forming a squad of three, and the last team standing claims the victory.
But the real flavour comes from the characters and their Quirks. Unlike traditional BR games where you hunt for weapons, here you’re hunting for Quirk Skill Cards that let you level up your character’s unique abilities. Every character has three main Quirk skills, and as you find more cards of the same colour/type, you can make those abilities stronger and more devastating.
This classification makes teamwork genuinely crucial. A good mix of a frontline tank like Cementoss, a damage dealer like Bakugo, and a healer like Recovery Girl (if she was in the game!) can make all the difference. You can’t just run in guns blazing—coordination is key to capitalising on your team’s diverse powers.
Looting, Leveling, and Last Man Standing
The core loop is straightforward:
Drop in and start looting boxes.
Collect Quirk Skill Cards to level up your three main abilities.
Rescue/Interact with civilians for bonus points and rewards.
Engage other teams in fast-paced, vertical combat.
Survive as the safe zone shrinks, forcing confrontation.
The maps are designed with plenty of buildings and verticality, making for dynamic fights where you can jump across rooftops as Iida or scale buildings as Ochaco Uraraka. When Quirks start flying, the whole arena lights up with that signature My Hero Academia anime style.
The Catch: Free-to-Play Structure
It’s a free game, which is brilliant, but it does come with the usual caveat: a gacha system. While you start with a decent handful of characters unlocked, many of the fan-favourites and arguably more powerful options are locked behind a character-specific grind or, less favourably, the gacha roll.
You can earn currency and “Rental Tickets” to try out locked characters, but permanently unlocking them can be a grind. This has been a sticking point for many players in the community, as it feels a bit pay-to-win when some of the best heroes and villains aren’t readily available.
However, the game is constantly being updated with new seasons, characters, and events, like the recent introduction of Armored All Might, which keeps the meta shifting and the action fresh.
The Verdict: Should You Download It?
If you’re a fan of the My Hero Academia franchise, this is a must-try. It captures the energy and visual spectacle of the anime perfectly, and there is genuinely a lot of fun to be had using your favourite character’s Quirk in a competitive environment.
The moment you coordinate an attack with your mates, combining your Quirks for a massive takedown, you’ll feel that “Plus Ultra!” rush.
Yes, the initial character unlock system can be a bit of a nuisance, and at launch, the mode variety was slim (though they are adding new modes like Area Control Battle), but as a free, fast-paced, and flashy team shooter, it’s an exciting addition to the battle royale genre.
