Lost in the Stars, Fighting to Get Home — N.E.O.N. HORIZON Unveils a Century-Old Space Mystery

More than a century ago, humanity initiated Project N.E.O.N. — the Navigational Expedition for Observable Nothingness.

At the heart of the project was NH-017, an autonomous research station governed by artificial intelligence. It spent seventy-one years crossing the silent gulfs of interstellar space before reaching its destination: Horizon. What it found there didn’t just change the mission — it rewrote everything humanity thought it knew about the void beyond.

Cut off from Earth, surrounded by threats it never anticipated, NH-017 began building and launching remote-controlled starships through hostile territory — desperate to pierce the darkness, reach Horizon itself, and send a warning back across the light-years before it’s too late. That is the story of N.E.O.N. HORIZON, the striking sci-fi roguelite bullet hell from independent developer NeonGameStudio.

The Mission That Uncovered Something Unimaginable

Project N.E.O.N. was humanity’s boldest leap: to send an automated probe to the very edge of known space and see what lay beyond. NH-017’s journey spanned seven decades — no crew, no contact, just a silent beacon drifting outward. When it finally arrived at Horizon, the station made a discovery so profound, so dangerous, that its mission shifted instantly from exploration to survival.

Horizon isn’t an empty frontier — it’s a threshold. And something is guarding it.

Stranded and alone, NH-017 has only one option: construct starship after starship, sending them through escalating waves of enemies in a bid to break through, reach Horizon, and transmit the truth home. You are the pilot — or rather, the fleet commander — guiding these vessels, designing every ship from the hull up, and fighting through 100 progressively deadly waves to uncover the secret at the edge of existence.

    Build. Survive. Evolve. Reach Horizon.

N.E.O.N. HORIZON blends tight, top-down bullet hell combat with deep roguelite progression and shipbuilding freedom. No two runs play the same — and your choices define every sortie:

    • Full Ship Customisation — Start with a frame and build it your way: install weapons, defensive systems, engines, and experimental modules. Mix and match to create everything from agile strike craft to lumbering heavy bastions.
    • Relics & Synergies — Discover powerful relics and hidden combinations that turn standard loadouts into unstoppable forces. Experimentation isn’t just encouraged — it’s essential as enemies grow faster, deadlier, and more numerous.
    • 100 Waves of Rising Danger — The threat escalates relentlessly. Every run pushes you to adapt, learn patterns, and unlock permanent upgrades that strengthen your fleet for the next attempt.
    • Stylised, Atmospheric Action — With a striking minimalist aesthetic and noir-tinged sci-fi tone, the game leans into the loneliness and tension of deep space — paired with an adrenaline-pumping soundtrack that hits harder the deeper you go.

Made with Heart, Available Now to Try

N.E.O.N. HORIZON is the work of Ukrainian developer Denys Romanov, founder of NeonGameStudio, created as a deeply personal project from Mariupol. A demo is already live on Steam, drawing strong attention during the Ukrainian Games Festival 2026, with full release coming soon. The game supports five languages, including Ukrainian, with English plus ten more at launch, and runs smoothly on modest hardware — minimum specs start at just 4GB RAM and a GTX 750 Ti, with full controller support from day one.

The Signal Has Been Sent — Will You Answer the Call?

NH-017 has waited 71 years. It has built ships, lost fleets, and kept broadcasting across the silence. The truth about Horizon is out there — and it’s up to you to bring it home.

Wishlist N.E.O.N. HORIZON on Steam now, play the demo, and join the expedition. The edge of space is waiting.
