Brazilian indie developer Pequi Studios—a passionate team of just three creators—has officially announced that their upcoming open-world survival game, Mayday: The Survival Island, is launching on Steam on November 2, 2026.

The announcement dropped fresh from the show floor at PAX West, where the game is currently playable at the indie.io booth (Stand #316) through September 7.

What is Mayday: The Survival Island?

At first glance, Mayday delivers everything fans love about the open-world survival craft genre: crafting tools, building shelters, managing vital resources, and trying to survive against the raw forces of nature. However, it quickly becomes clear that nature isn’t your only threat.

The island holds a dark, forgotten history. As you explore its dense jungles and hidden structures, you’ll uncover evidence of a strange presence that predates your arrival. Blending classic survival mechanics with eerie atmospheric mystery, Mayday forces players to ask a chilling question: Are you trying to survive the island, or what’s hiding on it?
